IDFA Tornoto Classic
Friday morning at the gym a guy asked me if I was going to watch a bodybuilding competition, which was on the following day. I hadn’t intended on going as I had to work. However by the end of my workout I had decided that I would call in sick to work for the next three days. I would then drive out to the competition registration that afternoon and sign myself up to compete.

So Friday afternoon rolled around and I found myself sitting in line, waiting to do the compulsory polygraph drug screening. An hour and a half later I was strapped up and answering the questions like a pro. When all was said and done I passed the test, got my competitor number and was good to go.

Keep in mind, when I normally do a show it has been planned for quite some time. I would normally eat a few different things, manipulate my water consumption and use some kind of tanning product.
I made the decision to do none of these things. The way I see it is I look good in the gym when I work out, so why play with it. I was just going to do my normal thing, throw a bit of colour on backstage and rock the house baby.

So I turned up to the show as the whitest man on earth and I know for a fact that people were looking at me like and thinking what the? Who is this white boy? I went to one of the stands at the expo and picked up a tub of dream tan and I was good to go.

All the others competitor were eating the standard competition day food. Peanut butter on rice cakes and all that stuff, because they have been told to by one person or another. Not me I was eating the standard eggs and beans. I even had one guy ask how can I eat the eggs? Wasn’t I scared of the sodium? I answered no. I was just going to do the same thing I do day in and day out. I was even training hard and heavy with weights the night before the show and that’s a big no no.
So show time came, I had my dream tan on and there were four in my class. I didn’t get a chance to see the other guys, so I wasn’t sure what I was up against. I just did my thing and hit the poses as they were called. Mind you I wasn’t overly happy with how I looked, I still felt ok though. I still needed a few more weeks dieting, as I had been getting ready for a show in three weeks time.

It came down to the night show to decide the winner. Apparently it had been pretty close and the judges needed another look. When all was said and done, I came out on top, taking home the number on position and dominating the posing round with my entertaining routine.
So yeah that’s what I did this weekend. I have another show in three weeks and have been doing my contest prep from day one with Josh Dickinson and with him on my side my preparation will be 100% spot on, rock the house baby.
